Where it hurts

What kind of claim do you have?

Injured at work

Claim rejected, payments stopped, or approaching the 130-week mark. WorkCover disputes, impairment benefits and serious injury claims.

Injured on the road

Driver, passenger, cyclist or pedestrian. TAC covers treatment and lost income regardless of who was at fault.

Can’t work any more

Illness or injury has permanently stopped you working. You may have TPD cover inside your super that you don’t know about.

No win, no fee

If we don’t win, you don’t pay our fees

That is the whole arrangement, and it is not conditional on anything clever. If your claim is unsuccessful, you pay nothing for the work we do on it.
  • Nothing to pay up front. No retainer, no deposit, no hourly bills arriving while your claim runs.
  • Nothing to pay if we don’t win. Our fees are payable only on a successful outcome.
  • Never a share of your compensation. Charging a percentage of your payout is illegal in Victoria. We don’t, and nobody here can.

And if we do win, you will have seen the cost in writing first

Most firms leave it there. We go further, because “no win, no fee” still leaves the obvious question unanswered: what happens if we do win. So we quote a fixed-price package up front for the stage your claim is at, showing what we expect to recover from the insurer and what would come out of your settlement. You get those figures in writing before you sign anything, not in a bill two years later.

Why Hotchin Gupta

Three reasons people choose us over a big firm

One lawyer, start to finish

Large firms hand your file down the chain and you repeat your story to someone new each time. Sha runs your claim personally, from the first call to settlement.

An Accredited Specialist, not a generalist

Sha is accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria in Personal Injury Law, with more than sixteen years in WorkCover, TAC and TPD claims.

We speak your language

Advice delivered in Hindi as well as English, with Urdu and Punjabi spoken. Describing pain to a doctor is hard enough in your first language.

You will be dealing with Sha

Sha Hotchin is an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law, a qualification held by a small minority of Victorian lawyers and assessed by the Law Institute of Victoria. What happens next

How a claim actually runs

  1. Free claim check

Two minutes online or a phone call. We tell you honestly whether you have a claim worth running.

  2. A fixed quote

You get the package, the anticipated recovery and your gap payment in writing, before you sign anything.

  3. We build the evidence

Medical records, specialist reports, and the paperwork the insurer will scrutinise.

  4. Negotiation or hearing

Most matters settle. If yours needs a Medical Panel or court, you will know the cost before we get there.

Straight answers

Questions people ask before calling

Does no win, no fee mean I pay nothing if I lose?

You pay nothing for our work. Disbursements are handled separately and it depends on your claim type, which we set out in your costs agreement before you sign. The full explanation is here.

What if my WorkCover claim was rejected?

A rejection is not the end of it. Disputes are common and often resolve at the first stage. We publish what each stage costs, so you can decide with the numbers in front of you.

How much of my payout do you take?

None of it. Charging a percentage of your compensation is illegal in Victoria. We charge fixed-price packages plus a 25% uplift on our fees, which is the legal maximum.

Can I change lawyers if I already have one?

Yes. We offer a free second opinion on a claim someone else is running, and changing firms partway through is more common than people expect.
